A powerfully composed David Finch cover from the height of his celebrated New Avengers run — monumental, cinematic, and painted in his signature rich dark palette! The composition builds in scale from bottom to top — at the lower centre: a cluster of Avengers rendered in tight detail — Spider-Man in his classic red and blue costume — Thor in silver and blue — Wolverine in yellow and black — and a fourth figure partially obscured — all grouped together in a tight action formation. Above them: the scene dramatically scales up — a massive Iron Man armour — the classic red and gold suit rendered in extraordinary detail — chest arc reactor glowing — helmet faceplate catching the light — the entire armour rendered in Finch’s meticulous cross-hatched brushwork. And towering above everything — dominating the upper three-quarters of the cover: the Sentry — an extreme close-up of his face in near three-quarter view — powerful jaw — deeply lined and weathered features — dark blue-grey skin tone — a golden wing emblem visible at the brow — eyes intense and downcast — the scale of his face dwarfing the entire team below. Military jets streak across the upper left background. The Marvel logo at the lower left. Finch / Miki © 2005 signature. A strikingly composed and collectible Bendis-era New Avengers cover.
A great pick for New Avengers run collectors, Bendis era Marvel fans, David Finch art hunters, and Sentry character enthusiasts. Direct Edition. Light wear, good shape.
