Rob Liefeld’s original cover composition reproduced in full glory — a dense, energy-packed ensemble piece featuring the debut of the Merc with a Mouth! At the centre of the frame: Deadpool himself — in his classic red and black costume — full-length and commanding — holding a large silver gun in both hands — the weapon enormous and detailed — bandolier straps and pouches across the chest — the mask with white oval eyes. Around him: the full cast of this landmark issue. At the upper right: Gideon — tall and imposing — long white-silver hair — flowing gold-orange robe — arms crossed — face stern. At the lower right: Domino in her blue-black tactical suit — seated — pale face with black eye marking — weapon at her side. Behind and around Deadpool: the New Mutants themselves in a chaotic, overlapping cluster — Boom-Boom with her wide blue eyes — Cannonball — Rictor and others filling the background in a panicked scramble — faces shocked and alarmed — Deadpool crashing into their world. The bold pink-magenta THE NEW MUTANTS masthead blazes across the top. INTRODUCING THE LETHAL DEADPOOL! in the yellow callout box. THE MYSTERIOUS GIDEON! and AND THE DYNAMIC DOMINO! in the right side callout boxes. Marvel Comics logo and CCA stamp. RATED T $3.99 US at the lower left. A cornerstone of Marvel history.
