A gloriously dramatic, classically painted Atlas-era cover that crackles with medieval adventure energy! The Black Knight dominates the entire frame — mounted on a massive rearing black horse — the horse’s legs raised high — red and gold decorative bridle and saddle trim gleaming — the Knight himself in full blue armour — visored helmet — a red cross emblem on the breastplate — shield raised on the left arm — and a long gleaming lance thrust upward and outward with one gauntleted hand — a red cape sweeping dramatically behind — the entire figure set against a bold flat yellow background — dust and earth kicked up beneath the horse’s hooves. In the distance behind: castle battlements — a stone tower — another knight on horseback in blue armour approaching from the right. Speech bubble from the Knight: “Strike, Black Blade! The Black Knight challenges Modred the Evil!” Two red shield callout boxes: “See The Black Knight combat Modred the Evil in ‘The Abduction of King Arthur!’” and “Thrills from King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table!” BLACK KNIGHT in massive ornate gold gothic lettering across the upper half. Also: “The Crusader” in this great issue! banner at the bottom.
A fantastic Atlas/Marvel facsimile of a classic pre-superhero era title — medieval adventure at its most colourful and dramatic. Great for Atlas-era collectors, King Arthur enthusiasts, and anyone who loves a beautifully reproduced golden-age cover. Light wear, good shape.
