Blood Commandment #1
Publisher: Image Comics
Creator / Artist: Szymon Kudranski
Spec Cover Variant Edition
Condition: pre-owned, light wear, good shape
An extraordinarily atmospheric, gallery-quality spec cover variant that is as much fine art as comic book! The entire cover is consumed by a massive dark horror creature rendered in rich charcoal and graphite tones — a vast grotesque face fills the frame from edge to edge — the maw stretched impossibly wide — rows of jagged irregular fangs curving inward from both upper and lower jaw — a thick heavy tongue visible within the darkness of the throat — long curved claws reaching from the upper corners inward toward the viewer — the surface of the creature’s face deeply textured — rough and cracked — dense shadow built with meticulous crosshatching and smeared charcoal — the entire image emerging from and dissolving back into the dark background. Behind and around the creature: a wall or surface covered in handwritten Polish text — looping cursive script scratched and smeared across the surface in pale chalk or paint — fragments of words and phrases bleeding through the dark tones — adding layers of mystery and dread. BLOOD COMMANDMENT in large bold mixed typography at the lower centre — BLOOD in deep red slashed lettering — COMMANDMENT in heavy white block letters — a red diagonal slash cutting across both. SZYMON KUDRANSKI in small elegant lettering above. Dark, visceral, and utterly unforgettable.
A great pick for horror comic collectors, Kudranski art fans, and anyone who appreciates exceptional dark illustration as a collector’s object. Spec cover variant — different from the standard cover. Light wear, good shape.
