A clean, dynamically composed bronze age annual cover showcasing Thor in pure iconic form! Thor fills the entire frame from the lower left to the upper right in a powerful diagonal surge — body fully extended in mid-swing — right arm stretched far behind him — Mjolnir trailing a long looping arc of motion blur lines behind the hammer — the hammer itself enormous in the lower left foreground — a massive square-headed grey block — its face showing the central circular boss — the leather strap wrapped around Thor’s wrist. Thor in his classic bronze age costume — silver-grey chest disc armour — blue tunic and trousers — golden boots and gauntlets — winged helmet — flowing bright red cape streaming dramatically behind him to the right — his face in profile — jaw set — eyes forward with fierce determination. The background: a warm flat golden-beige — simple and clean — letting the figure and motion dominate. Bob Layton signature at the lower left. Spider-Man corner box at the lower left. THE MIGHTY THOR ANNUAL in the bold red masthead above. featuring… UNTOLD TALES IN THE LIFE OF THE THUNDER GOD! in clean red serif lettering at the lower right.
A great bronze age Thor annual — Bob Layton’s clean, powerful linework at its best. Great for Thor run collectors and 1980s Marvel enthusiasts. Light wear consistent with age.
